La musica ed il tifo si fondono in questa bellissima storia con protagonisti gli Hibernians e 500 miles, disco dei Proclaimers di gran successo noto come I’m gonna be.
Abbiamo potuto notare in questi anni di articoli quanto sia forte il legame tra i cori degli ultras ed i 45 giri e quante volte gli speaker degli stadi di calcio suonino le canzoni famose..oggi è il turno dell’Hibernian Football Club, società gloriosa di Edimburgo!
I biancoverdi, rivali acerrimi dei concittadini Hearts of Midlothian (i Maroons), si distinguono soprattutto per la loro origine irlandese e per la religione cattolica..un po’come avviene a Glasgow dove si tiene l’Old Firm, il derby, tra Celtic e Rangers. C’è anche da specificare che gli Hibs nascono prima dei Celts, i quali sorgono sulla loro falsariga, chiamandosi Hibernians of Glasgow (per poi cambiare nome nel tempo)..daltronde quel nome in latino significa Irlanda!
Probabilmente questo lo sai già ed allora arriviamo subito al punto, il contatto tra i Proclaimers e gli Hibs: ad Easter Road, lo stadio di Edimburgo degli Hibees, dopo ogni goal e prima di ogni match di football lo speaker suona 500 miles..ed il pubblico non rimane certo in silenzio!
Il brano è stato pubblicato nel 1988 da etichetta Chrysalis nel disco Sunshine on Leith ed è una canzone così orecchiabile e così coinvolgente che è stata oggetto di varie cover ed è usata in vari eventi in cui c’è gente che abbia voglia di divertirsi!
